How to use Tap Signs

Lumikut’s Tap Signs use NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to provide a contactless way to access the desired link/URL. This technology is compatible with almost all smartphones in the market, just follow the guidelines below for a hassle-free experience.

iPhone Instructions

  1. The phone must be unlocked
  2. The top of the iPhone must be placed to the NFC symbol on the sign until it scans
      • For iPhone models 7 through X, a separate app must be downloaded (Decode NFC App) for this to work
      • iPhone models prior to 7 do not have NFC capability
  1. Once the NFC tag is read, a notification or banner will pop up
  2. The user can then click on the notification to open the link in their default browser.

Android Instructions

  1. The phone must be unlocked
  2. The back of the phone must be placed to the NFC symbol on the sign until it scans. Depending on the phone’s manufacturer, the NFC reader might be located along the top, middle, or bottom of the backside of the device.
  3. Once the NFC tag is read, the user will be automatically directed to the link in their default browser
      • In some cases, a notification or banner will pop out to request the user to choose a browser preference
      • Depending on the manufacturer, NFC may need to be switched on or activated manually in the phone’s settings

Note: When scanning, if an action is not immediately triggered, slowly move your phone around the NFC touchpoint until interaction is triggered.

Are tap signs safe?

NFC is a safe and reliable method most commonly being used for contact-less payments with credit cards and phones. NFC technology its programmed to transmit the link directly to the phone and no other information can be collected or transmitted.

The NFC reader is only active when your phone is in use (that is, the screen is lit up).  It’s also deactivated when you’re using certain apps, like your camera or your Apple Pay Wallet.
